Kid Friendly Sushi In a Jar

  • 4 nori sheets, cut into thin strips
  • ¼ cup cooked sushi rice
  • ½ carrot, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ½ cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ¼ can tuna or salmon, drained
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • Optional garnish: 4 slices pickled ginger; ¼ teaspoon black sesame seeds; salmon roe; wasabi paste


  1. Into a ½ pint jar, place a few nori strips at the bottom. Add the rice, a few more nori strips, carrots, cucumber and tuna.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the vinegar, maple syrup, and soy sauce; stir well to combine.
  3. Drizzle the dressing over the veggies and tuna. Add ginger, sesame seeds, salmon roe and wasabi paste, if desired.
