Grand Granola
Recipe by: Dietitians of Canada
Granola is really just toasty oats tossed with a little oil and dried fruit. Some of the granola you buy in the store has a lot of sugar, so it’s great to make your own sometimes! This can be munched just as is, served with milk or yogurt, added to a smoothie, or made into power bars.

Ingredients:
- ½ cup pumpkin seeds
- ½ cup sunflower seeds
- 4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- ½ cup canola oil
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup or honey
- ¼ teaspoon fine salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup raisins, dried cranberries or other dried fruit
Equipment:
- Aluminum foil or parchment paper
- Cutting board
- Small bowl
- Plastic wrap
- Microwave
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- Put aluminum foil or parchment paper on a large baking sheet.
- Add the seeds and oats to a large bowl.
- Add oil, maple syrup, salt and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
- Spread out the oats in an even layer onto the baking sheet.
- Place the oats in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Stir the oats, then bake an additional 10-15 minutes, until oats are lightly browned.
- Remove granola from oven.
- Add the dried fruit, stir, and then let the granola cool before eating.
